Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Forty-eight hours have passed since 52-kg gold and Rs 11 crore were found in a car, but the police have yet to hit upon a clue to the mystery behind such a huge haul of gold and cash.

The police have failed to lay their hands on the person who parked the vehicle filled with such a huge quantity of gold and such an enormous amount of cash at an empty plot of land in the state capital.

The police said they had handed over the gold and money to I-T officials probing the case. Even the CCTV footage was not sifted through to search for the mysterious man who parked the vehicle on a vacant plot of land. The roots that the vehicle took to reach the spot are also yet to be detected.

According to sources, efforts are on to sweep the case under the carpet by handing over the seized gold and money to the income-tax department. Sources further said the Special Police Establishment (SPE) of Lokayukta has also failed to take any step.

Whatever the clues the police have so far hit upon indicate that former constable of the transport department Saurabh Sharma is behind the case.

What is the source of gold?

The probe agencies are yet to find out the source of such a huge quantity of gold. They do not know whether it was brought from any other city or bought from a jeweler in Bhopal. Nevertheless, it is clear that the gold was bought with the help of black money. Sources said I-T sleuths might act against the person who turned black money into gold.

A trade of turning black money into gold is flourishing in Indore, sources further said.

Saurabh who is abroad showing his clout

Saurabh Sharma, who is abroad, is showing his clout from there. According to reports, the police removed media persons who went to Sharma’s residence to report about the case on Saturday. The police told them to leave the place after completing their work.

Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayan Chari Mishra told to the Free Press that police is keeping a close watch on the situation and if it is found that money is connected with any crime then action would be taken.
