Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh is experiencing extreme cold in the last week of November. The state capital Bhopal has become colder than the hill station Pachmarhi. The temperature in Bhopal was recorded at 8.2 degrees Celsius on the intervening night of Thursday-Friday while Pachmarhi’s temperature was 9.6 degrees.
According to the meteorological department, the jet stream over West-North India is flowing at a speed of 278 kilometers per hour, bringing cold winds to the state. At present, the wind height is 12.6 km and when it flows down, the effect of cold will be intense. Moreover, there is a cyclonic circulation system in the eastern part and south-western part of the Bay of Bengal, affecting the state.

Night Temperature below 10 degrees in Betul, Jabalpur
The temperature was recorded at 9.4 degrees in Betul, 8 degrees in Rajgarh, 8.5 degrees in Jabalpur, 9.4 degrees in Khajuraho, 8 degrees in Naugaon, 9.5 degrees in Rewa, 7.4 degrees in Umaria and 9.5 degrees in Malajkhand.
Due to icy winds, small towns like Shahdol, Mandla are colder than Shimla, Mount Abu, Dehradun, Jammu and Katra as night temperature there has reached below 7 degrees.

Moreover, the temperature was recorded at 12.2 degrees in Indore, 10 degrees in Gwalior and 12 degrees in Ujjain.
Day temperature dropped
The day temperature dropped in many cities of the state on Thursday, least in Pachmarhi. The temperature was recorded at 27.2 degrees in Bhopal, 25.9 degrees in Indore, 27.5 degrees in Gwalior, 27 degrees in Ujjain and 25.8 degrees in Jabalpur.
