Bhopal Crime Branch Arrests Four Smugglers With 15 Kgs Of Ganja Worth ₹4 Lakhs | Representative Image
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Bhopal Crime Branch has arrested four individuals who were caught smuggling Ganja from Orissa to Bhopal. Police recovered 15 kg 160 grams of illegal drug ganja from the accused. The cost of which is said to be 4 lakh rupees.
Crime Branch received a tip from an informer about individuals carrying a suspicious bag filled with cannabis waiting for customers in front of Yash Bank, Located in MP Nagar Zone-1.On receiving the information, Crime Branch Station Incharge Ashok Maravi and his team reached the spot.
Cops disguised in civilian clothes arrested the accused
On receiving the information, Crime Branch Station Incharge Ashok Maravi immediately activated his team. After informing the senior officers, a special team was formed.
The police took swift action on the basis of a tip off available. When the team reached in front of Yash Bank, four people were sitting there with their bags.
The police team, disguised in civilian clothes to avoid alerting, the suspects reached the spot and gradually surrounded the four individuals. Upon searching their bags, they found the ganja wrapped in foil. The accused, when interrogated, admitted to smuggling the ganja from Orissa with the intent to sell it in Bhopal.
The arrested suspects have been identified as:
Arjun Kuchbandia (19) – Resident of Harda, laborer
Suraj Kuchbandia (35) – Resident of Raisen, confectioner
Lakshman Kuchbandia (25) – Resident of Harda, laborer
Narmada Kahar alias Chhote (27) – resident of Raisen, second-hand clothes business
Case of smuggling filed
A case under Section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the accused. The four smugglers will be produced before the court as per legal procedures.
The police have been praised for the successful operation and urged continue their efforts to combat the illegal drug trade in the region.
