Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Economic offence wings (EOW) has registered a case against officials of a nationalized bank’s Sironj branch (Sagar district) for allegedly disbursing Rs 82.44 lakh loan to farmers through Kisan Credit Card bypassing the rules, officials said. The agency has also booked the farmers who received the loans.
According to officials, the then bank manager Archana Vaghmare, along with bank employees Gajendra Singh, Kamlesh Ahirwar, and an advocate, allegedly conspired to sanction loans to farmers against the norms.
The bank officials reportedly suppressed facts about the actual crops grown in the agricultural fields. Further irregularities include the bank manager failing to follow standard operating procedures—such as obtaining a field verification report from the bank’s official advocate. The bank officials, instead, took the report from an advocate not associated with the bank. A complaint was filed with EOW after the financial irregularities surfaced.
