The Golden Dawn self-help group (SHG) from Bhayandar got an opportunity to showcase their eco-friendly and other traditional products at the 12th edition of the Asia-Pacific 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and Circular Economy Forum which was recently held at Jaipur in Rajasthan.
The social welfare department of the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) had extended its support to the SHG for registering their participation in the three-day event which was held at the Rajasthan International Centre from 3-5 March 2025 with the theme-Realizing Circular Societies Towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and Carbon Neutrality in Asia Pacific. More than 500 international and domestic participants including SHGs and NGOs attended the forum held to showcase their waste-to-wealth initiatives.
The Golden Dawn SHG had displayed a range of eye-catchy and environment-friendly products including- paper dolls, paper plates, mirror frames, woolen showpieces, handbags, Warli paintings and wall hangings. The products displayed by volunteers of Golden Dawn SHG attracted the attention of Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department, Government of Maharashtra-K. H. Govinda Raj, State Campaign Director of Swachh Maharashtra Mission -Navnath Vath, and Deputy Director-Mahesh Chaudhary who visited their stall.
The forum concluded with the adoption of the ‘Jaipur Declaration’ to promote the transition to a resource-efficient, circular economy in Asia-Pacific countries. With an objective of charting pathways and opportunities for realizing circular and zero waste societies in the Asia-Pacific region, the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) had launched the forum in 2009.
