Mumbai: Fraudsters posing as law enforcement or government officials call individuals claiming they are under ‘digital arrest’ for illegal online activities. These are fake calls aimed at causing fear and extorting money.
Don’t Panic – Digital Arrests Are Not Real
There is no such thing as a digital arrest in Indian law. Scammers use this false term to trick you into thinking you’re in legal trouble.
Don’t Share Personal or Financial Details
Never disclose your bank details, passwords, or OTPs to unknown callers. Genuine authorities will never ask for sensitive information over the phone.
Don’t Pay Any Money
Scammers often demand money to “settle” your case. Do not transfer funds or make any payment under pressure or fear.
Report Immediately
