To ensure smooth travel and enhance the New Year celebrations, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has announced special bus services on the night of December 31.

A total of 25 additional buses will be deployed on various routes connecting popular tourist spots such as Gateway of India, Juhu Beach, Gorai Beach, and Marve Beach. The initiative aims to provide convenient transportation for the large crowds expected at these destinations during the festivities.

BEST officials and inspectors will be stationed at key locations, including Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Chowk, Juhu Beach, Gorai Beach, Churchgate Station (East), and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, to assist passengers and manage operations.

Officials have assured that more buses will be arranged if needed to accommodate the surge in demand.

Apart from that , BEST will also organize a “Heritage Tour” using the newly introduced air-conditioned electric double-decker buses during midnight of 31st December 2024 and 1st January 2025.

This tour will provide an opportunity for Mumbaikars and tourists to explore the historical landmarks of South Mumbai.

The route includes Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Chowk (Museum), Gateway of India, Mantralaya, Nariman Point, Churchgate, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Hutatma Chowk, Reserve Bank, and more.

The Heritage Tour buses will operate every 45 minutes from 10 AM to 3 AM, with ticket prices set at Rd150 for the upper deck and Rs 75 for the lower deck.

“Tourist spots across Mumbai and its suburbs witness a surge in visitors during New Year celebrations. To facilitate convenient travel for these tourists, the BEST undertaking will operate additional buses to popular seaside locations in Mumbai at the end of the year. This initiative will make late-night travel easier for tourists,” a BEST official said.
