Bengaluru: A marketing professional was found dead at his home in Karnataka’s Bengaluru on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Prashanth Nair. According to reports, there was a marital dispute going on between Prashanth and his wife.

He allegedly took his own life due to domestic harassment. Prashanth married Pooja Nair 12 years ago. The couple has an eight-year-old daughter. Pooja was accused of mentally harassing Prashanth, reported NDTV citing sources.

On the day when the marketing professional ended his life, he allegedly got multiple calls from his family members, reported the media house. However, he did not respond. After Prashanth did not receive any calls, his father rushed to his apartment.

His father found him hanging from a ceiling fan. The police registered a case. A detailed investigation has been launched into the matter to find out if he was harassed by his wife and in-laws.

In February this year, Manav Sharma, an employee of a tech company, died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra. He was found dead at his residence in Defence Colony on February 24. Manav Sharma had filmed a video on his mobile phone before hanging himself to death, in which he held his wife responsible for pushing him to take the drastic step.

In a similar incident that took place in December last year, 40-year-old Delhi bakery owner Puneet Khurana died by suicide. He was found hanging in his room in Model Town’s Kalyan Vihar area. Khurana spoke to his estranged wife before taking the extreme step.

On December 9 2024, a Bengaluru techie, Atul Subhash, took his life alleging harassment by his wife and in-laws. The 34-year-old deputy general manager of a private firm, died by suicide in his Bengaluru apartment, leaving behind a 24-page note.
