In a viral video, a Bengaluru man was seen confronting an auto driver and asking him to speak Hindi. The argument perhaps broke out after the driver told him to speak in the local language, Kannada. This man refused to do so, further asking the driver to learn Hindi instead. “I told you nothing but to speak in Kannada”, the driver said. “Whether in Karnataka or Bengaluru, speak Hindi”, the man replied in a furious tone.
The video recorded a heated argument between the man and the driver, who remained off camera. The latter repeatedly asked the man, perhaps after dropping him at his location, to learn and converse in the local language to survive in the IT city.
The man didn’t take his free advice. He yelled at him and asked him to speak Hindi instead.
As this man, bearded and dressed in a greenish grey t-shirt furiously walked towards the rickshaw wala, a woman tried to control him. She pulled him back to settle the disagreement. Meanwhile, another man filmed the incident on his phone camera.
The video has been shared online by multiple users and it has gone viral.
The incident sparked an outrage on social media and received mixed reactions from netizens. “Hindi is not our National language. Speak Kannada when you are here or go back to North from where u have come”, one commented. “This language drama must stop. No harm in learning local language to survive in city which gives money, job”, another said.
