The Bengali Cultural Association of Belapur is hosting a two-day festival, the Flamingo Bengali Drama Fest, on January 11 and 12. “Drama is an integral part of Bengali culture, and even today, families flock to shows in Mumbai and the city.
But a festival dedicated to Bengali drama is rare, so we took on the challenge of inviting talented artists for the Navi Mumbai audience,” said Jayanta Bose, Trustee of the Bengali Cultural Association.
The festival will feature six stage performances by teams from across the country, marking the third year of this exclusive celebration for Bengali drama enthusiasts.
Preparations for the festival began in October 2024, with the cultural committee selecting dramas based on their social messages or comedic themes. “Selected groups are informed early so they can commence rehearsals,” added Bose. This year’s lineup includes Bisoi-e-Bish, Darpane Samai, Batoje Bedona, Kuasa Manush, Satya Fire Eso, and Ascharya Basanto. Two of the plays will be performed by Kolkata-based teams.
