Kolkata: Two weeks after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee mentioned about reshuffling of CID and accused a section of lower rank police for allegedly encouraging scams in the state, CID chief R Rajasekaran to ADG Training on Wednesday.
Notably, Rajasekaran was appointed as the Additional Director-General (ADG) and IGP of the state CID in May 2022.
According to sources, however, the position of CID chief is still vacant. R Sivakumar became the new ADG and IGP of the Enforcement Branch, replacing Rajeev Mishra. Damayanti Sen former ADG Training, became the new ADG & IGP, Policy.
Rajiv Mishra has been reassigned as ADG & IGP for modernisation and coordination.
According to poll analysts, through the reshuffle the message of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Supremo is clear that she is the last word in the party.
It can be recalled that on November 11, addressing a press conference from the state secretariat Nabanna, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday had slammed a section of police of lower ranks for encouraging sand and coal smuggling in the state. Mamata had also instructed DGP Rajeev Kumar to look into the ‘complaints’ received against some CID officers and also directed him to take action against them if the complaints are genuine.
