Mumbai: The calendar year 2025 has started today in the Indian stock markets. US, UK in global markets. While most of the markets including Europe, Asia remained closed today, a fresh round of rally started in automobile, capital goods stocks led by local funds and institutional investors. Funds, high net worth investors bought their favorite stocks today as many stocks witnessed a sharp correction after overvaluation and regained attractive valuations. Buying by local funds offset the ongoing selling of shares by foreign portfolio investors. Sensex closed 368.40 points higher at 78507.41 and Nifty 50 spot closed 98.10 points higher at 23742.90. Of course, in the evening the Nasdaq was down 190 points and the Dow Jones was down 55 points.

Maruti up by Rs 354 to Rs 11,221: Mahindra up by Rs 3080: Auto index up 638 points

Anticipating that the new year 2025 for automobile companies will be encouraging with new models, funds today saw huge valuations led by select frontline stocks. Maruti Suzuki increased by Rs 354.30 to Rs 11,221.20, Mahindra & Mahindra increased by Rs 73.75 to Rs 3080.70, TVS Motor increased by Rs 38.40 to Rs 2407.10, Sundaram increased by Rs 10 to Rs 1074, Exide increased by Rs 5.25 to Rs 422, Eicher Motors Tata Motors The price of Tata Motors increased by Rs 58.90 to Rs 4876, the price of Tata Motors increased by Rs 8.55 to Rs 749.25, the price of Ashok Leyland increased by Rs 2.25 to Rs 222.80. BSE Auto Index closed 637.88 points higher at 52300.86.

Hitachi NG rises Rs 1012 to Rs 15,415: Suzlon, Larsen, CG Power rise

Capital goods-power stocks also rose as funds bought again. Hitachi NG increased by Rs 1012.05 to Rs 15,415, Suzlon NG increased by Rs 3.11 to Rs 65.34, Inox Wind increased by Rs 6.40 to Rs 187.40, Keynes Tech closed at Rs 181.60, CG Power increased by Rs 7595 to Rs 740.50, B.H.E.L. Up by Rs 3.90 to Rs 233.20, Schaeffler up by Rs 57.10 to Rs 3462.55, Larsen & Toubro up by Rs 59.20 to Rs 3667.20, Siemens up by Rs 95.60 to Rs 6633.30, Grindwell Note up by Rs 26.10 to Rs 1947.25. BSE Capital Goods Index closed 824.61 points higher at 68604.11.

Selective buys in healthcare stocks: Strides Pharma, Bliss GVS, Sequent, Newland Labs up

Funds of healthcare-pharmaceutical companies were buying stocks today. Bliss GVS rose by Rs 12.30 to Rs 177, Stride Pharma rose by Rs 42.20 to Rs 702, Dishman Carbogen rose by Rs 14 to Rs 284.20, sequin scientific rose by Rs 8.80 to Rs 184.80, Newland Lab rose by Rs 622.20 to Rs 14,350, Gujarat Themis rose by Rs 11.45. Indraprastha Maddy increased by Rs 316.90, Indraprastha Maddy increased by Rs 19.50 to Rs 542.50, Rainbow Child increased by Rs 53.65 to Rs 1550.20.

Valuations in banking stocks: Bajaj Twins, IndusInd, Axis Bank, HDFC attract

Banking-finance stocks were rated by funds today. IndusInd Bank rose by Rs 8.95 to Rs 969.20, Axis Bank rose by Rs 6.80 to Rs 1072.05, HDFC Bank rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1782.45, Bank of Baroda rose by Rs 1.10 to Rs 241.60. Finance, Among other banking stocks, Repco Home rose Rs 25.70 to Rs 433.55, Medi Assist rose Rs 33.05 to Rs 610.75, JSW Holding gained Rs 765.90 to Rs 16,084.55, Arman Financial rose Rs 54.80. to Rs 1294.80, Muthoot Finance up Rs 79.60 to Rs 2216.60, Nippon up Rs 26.85 to Rs 753.70, Fivepaisa Capital up Rs 17 to Rs 484.25, General Insurance up Rs 14.40 to Rs 458, IEAFL Capital up Rs 10.50 338.50, PNB Housing rose by Rs 27.20 to Rs 904.85, PNB Gilts rose by Rs 3.60 to Rs 112.15, Angel One rose by Rs 84.35 to Rs 3016.75, Jio Financial rose by Rs 5.75 to Rs 304.50. Bajaj Finance was up by Rs 115.25 at Rs 6936.65.

Funds, operators are becoming active, small and midcap stocks are rising again: 2741 shares closed positive.

Today, on the first day of the year 2025, funds, operators, high net worth investors became active again, many small, mid cap, cash stocks saw fresh rise. Of the total 4072 stocks traded on BSE, the number of gainers was 2741 and the number of decliners was 1241.

On the first day of 2025, investors’ wealth increased by Rs 2.48 lakh crore to Rs 444.43 lakh crore.

On the first day of 2025, prices of many stocks rose due to active buying by funds, high net worth investors, operators, the total wealth of investors i.e. total market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased by Rs 2.48 lakh crore. Rs 444.43 lakh crore in one day.

Net sales in cash by FPIs/FIIs Rs 1783 crore: Net purchases by DIIs Rs 1690 crore

Foreign portfolio investors – FPIs, FIIs made a net sale of shares worth Rs 1782.71 crore in cash today on Wednesday. There was a sale of Rs 3019.73 crore against the total purchase of Rs 1237.02 crore. Whereas DII-Domestic Institutional Investors made net purchases of Rs 1690.37 crore in cash today. There was a sale of Rs 6846.60 crore against the total purchase of Rs 8536.97 crore.
