Supreme Court on bulldozer action: The Supreme Court has made a big comment on the bulldozer action. The Supreme Court has made it clear that people’s safety is paramount. Be it a temple or a dargah, illegal construction must be removed. The court was today hearing petitions against the bulldozing action against those accused of the crime. Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan conducted the hearing.

India is a secular country so the order for bulldozer action will be for all citizens.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court said that India is a secular country. We will issue guidelines for all citizens. Illegal construction can be done by anyone, Hindu or Muslim. Our mandate is for everyone. Be it any religion or sect. For encroachment, we have said that if it is on a public road, footpath, reservoir or railway line area, it will have to be removed. If there is any religious structure in the middle of the road then it should be removed, be it a Gurudwara, Dargah or temple.

The bench had said on September 17 that the properties of the accused and others will not be demolished till October 1 without our permission. The bench said that if there is even a single case of illegal demolition then it is against the values of our Constitution.

The court clarified that our order will not apply to illegal structures built on public places such as roads, footpaths, railway lines or water bodies and will also not apply to cases in which demolition has been ordered by the court.
