Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Key stakeholders from the pharmaceutical sector gathered at the general body meeting of the Basic Drug Dealer Association (BDDA) held here on Monday, to discuss crucial challenges and solutions. During the meeting, a Central Bulk Drugs Association was proposed, to create a unified body representing multiple states, including Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Uttaranchal. The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration among dealers nationwide and improve regulatory compliance.
Discussions with other state associations are on and finalization is expected soon. BDDA president Praveen Seth and general secretary Jaiprakash Mulchandani highlighted major concerns in the pharma sector. The participants deliberated on the practical challenges faced by drug dealers, including compliance with inspection norms, fraud prevention and GST regulations.
A key point of discussion was the importance of due diligence in selling and purchasing goods, and members were advised to thoroughly check bills, barcodes and purchase orders before finalizing transactions. Mulchandani also provided detailed insights into GST norms, urging dealers to ensure proper documentation, including drug licenses, before supplying medicines. Besides, the members agreed to organize a joint programme involving drug manufacturers to facilitate better communication between dealers and producers.
The current executive body, led by Seth and Mulchandani received unanimous support from members for their continued leadership. Kulveer Singhji Khalsa was unanimously elected as the joint secretary. The meeting was attended by key figures including Prafull Bhai Turakhia, Mukesh Sanghvi, Prakash Hingorani, Rakesh Ajmera, Preetesh Jain, Ashok Kukreja, Manish Dawani, Mitin Shah and others.
