Bcci Removes Team India Supporting Staff: The Indian Cricket Control Board of Control (BCCI) has made a major change in the supporting staff after the Indian team’s disappointing performance at the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2025 played between India and Australia. Four employees have been dismissed from Team India’s support staff. In which Assistant Coach Abhishek Nair, who is considered very close to Gambhir, has also been excluded. Apart from this, fielding coaches, strength and conditioning coaches and a massage have also been shown the way out.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir’s very special Abhishek Nair was associated with Gambhir since the days of Kolkata Knight Riders. Gambhir became the head coach of Team India, while Abhishek Nair was given the responsibility of assistant coach. He was working as an assistant coach of Team India since 24 July 2024. Abhishek and Gambhir’s friendship was very much discussed.
Apart from Abhishek Nair, Fielding Coach T. Dilip is included in Team India’s affiliate staff. Strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai has also been removed. Massage (physio support staff) has also been given permanent leave. However, his name has not been announced.
Gambhir dominates in coaching staff
Gautam Gambhir has dominated the coaching staff since taking over as the head coach of Team India on 9 July 2024. Gambhir included his private people associated with Kolkata Knight Riders as the supporting staff of Team India in his coaching staff. It included Abhishek Nair, Ryan Ten Doste and Morne Morkel. Nair’s term with Team India is about to end.
Kotak’s entry as a batting coach
Team India had to struggle in the Australia Border Gavaskar Trophy after a 0-3 abusive defeat in the domestic Test series against New Zealand. The BCCI appointed NCA coach Sitanshu Kotak as a white ball batting coach earlier this year. Kotak joined Team India for the series against England. Gambhir and his coaching team, which was part of the associate staff, made a brilliant comeback and gave India the title of Champions Trophy. Nair, Ten Doshet, Morkel, Dilip and Kotak were all top members of the supporting staff. In which Nair has been brought home.
The new staff will be available before June 20
A new support staff will be recruited for Team India ahead of the five -match series starting against England from 20 June. It remains to be seen who will replace Abhishek Nair and T Dileep of BCCI.
