The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suddenly postponed the meeting of higher officials to be held in Guwahati today. Senior Men’s Selection Committee Chairman Ajit Agarkar and BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia were expected to attend this meeting.
Main Agenda: Central Contract and England Tour
According to IANS report, the main agenda of this meeting was the discussion on the Central Contract of India A team with the Indian Senior Team and the team selection for the upcoming England tour. However, a BCCI source said that
“The information of postponing the meeting was given on Friday night itself. Now this meeting will be either after the second match of IPL in Guwahati or in the first week of April.”
Possible participation of Gautam Gambhir
According to reports, Gautam Gambhir, the possible new head coach of Team India, may also attend this meeting. Recently he was holidaying abroad with family, but now he can be ready to focus on the upcoming session of the team.
Suspense on Virat, Rohit and Jadeja’s contract
The most focus in the meeting will be on Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja’s central contract grade. These three players are currently included in the A+ grade, but their contract may change after retirement from T20 cricket.
Given the history of BCCI, MS Dhoni remained in A+ grade despite retiring from Test cricket in 2014. In such a situation, now it has to be seen whether the grade of Virat, Rohit and Jadeja remains or any change is made in it.
What next?
Even though the meeting has been postponed, everyone’s eyes will remain on the decisions taken in it. As soon as the next meeting of BCCI, more important updates can be revealed on it.
