Rohit Sharma to be dropped for the Sydney test?
According to Indian Express report, Rohit Sharma will be ‘RESTED ‘ for the final match with Jasprit Bumrah all set to take over the command. Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir dodged the question twice during press conference, claiming that they will announce the playing eleven after looking at the conditions in Sydney.
As per the report Shubman Gill is likely to enter playing 11 with KL Rahul opening the innings. Prasidh Krishna is likely to get his first match on the tour replacing injured Akash Deep.
According to the report, during the training session, Gambhir was seen having long, conversations with Bumrah while the fielding drills were going on. Rohit batted in nets with with side-arm bowlers after being the the last to walk in for practice. He was also missing during the routine slip practice sessions. These situations gives a clear indication that time is up for Team India skipper following the Melbourne debacle.
After the defeat in Melbourne India needs to win the SCG test to not only retain the Border Gavaskar trophy but also keep alive their chances of reaching the WTC finals. Australia on the other hand have two more games after the fifth test to try and seal the sport for the final. The final showdown should be an intense battle.
