Why did BCCI punish Ishant Sharma?
Ishant Sharma’s bowling against Sunrisers Hyderabad was nothing special. Ishant Sharma proved to be the most expensive bowler of the match as he conceded 53 runs in 4 overs and did not take any wickets. In this match, Ishant was convicted of violation of the IPL code of conduct, due to which the BCCI has also punished the fast bowler. In fact, it is not yet confirmed what Ishant has violated.
A release issued by the IPL said that Ishant Sharma has been found guilty of violation of the IPL code of conduct in this match played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Due to which Ishant has been fined 25 percent of the match fee. Ishant has also accepted this crime.
Apart from this, a demerit point has also been added to the fast bowler’s account. Ishant Sharma accepted Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct and confessed to the match referee’s sentence.
Ishant’s poor form
Ishant Sharma’s performance in season 18 has not been special so far. He is losing badly in every match. Ishant did not get a chance to play in the first match. After this, Ishant conceded 17 runs in 2 overs in the second match against Mumbai Indians. In the third match against RCB, Ishant took 1 wicket for 27 runs in 2 overs. So far Ishant has played 3 matches and has got only 1 wicket.
