India vs england test series: The Indian team will tour England for the five -match Test series in June. Now the post of vice-priest can be taken away from Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. The match will start the 2025/27 World Test Championship cycle from this match. Bumrah was appointed as the vice -captain in place of Rohit Sharma in India’s last Test series against Australia and gave the team the only win in the initial match in Perth. He also captained India in the final Test played in Sydney after Rohit was dropped from the playing XI.
Indo-England series program
The first match of the five-match Test series between India and England will begin in Leeds from 20 June, while the second Test of the series will be played from 2-6 July. On the other hand, the third Test match will be played from 10–14 July at the historic Lord’s Stadium in London. The fourth Test match will be played from 23 to 27 July at Old Trafford, Manchester and the final match of the series will be played from 31 July to 4 August at The Oval, London.
BCCI’s special plan
According to a report, under the charge management, Bumrah is unlikely to play in all matches played by India on the tour of England. Therefore, the selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar wants a vice-captain who can play on the entire tour. BCCI sources said, “We want a player who is available for all five Test matches and should be given the role of vice-captain.” Bumrah will not play all five matches, so we do not want to appoint separate vice-captains for different matches. It is better that the captain and vice-captains be decided and they all play five Test matches.
Board’s eye on Gill-Pant
The report further states that the selectors are looking for a ‘young face’ instead of Rohit. Therefore, he wants a vice-captain that can be prepared as India’s future Test captain. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant are suitable for this role. 25 -year -old batsman Gill was recently seen in the same role in the ODI format during India’s Champions Trophy victory. On the other hand, Pant led India in the T20 series against South Africa in 2022.
Injury becomes a matter of concern
The report also said that the board is worried about Bumrah’s suffering from Bumrah. This right -handed fast bowler has recently been overcome by back injury, due to which he was out of the ground from the second week of January to April. He missed the Champions Trophy campaign as well as the first half of IPL 2025 due to his recovery.
Stay out of the game for 11 months
In 2022, Bumrah was harassed by a back injury when he stayed out of the ground for about 11 months. Because of this, he could not play in the T20 World Cup played in Australia. The five -match England series will start from June 20. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see who will entrust the responsibility of the vice -captain.
