Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Sydney Sixers came up with a massive announcement on April 1, Tuesday as they announced Virat Kohli will play for them for the next two seasons. Given the BCCI doesn’t allow contracted Indian players to play in overseas leagues, the announcement sparked a huge intrigue among the fans.

Due to some of his best knocks across formats in Australia, the 36-year-old harbours quite a lot of respect in Australia. He is also the only Asian captain to date to win a Test series Down Under and garnered quite the fan base despite not faring well in the red-ball leg in Australia recently.

Below is the post on Instagram by the Sydney Sixers as they captioned it

“King Kohli. Virat Kohli is officially a Sixer for the next TWO seasons!”

However, they later announced that it was a post on account of April 1st, which is known as the April Fool’s day.
