Those who recently visited a fruit market in Pune put them into worry. When people witnessed a bat nibbling a chikoo racked up for sale, they raised health concerns.
A video of a bat eating chikoo from a fruit vendor’s stall in Pune is being widely circulated on the internet. It records an undisturbed bat seated on a pile of chikoo. It is seen consuming the fruit with its teeth. The visuals showed the flying mammal feasting on a chikoo.

The bat was filmed sitting on the fruit stall with its wings open. While it was enjoying a fruit, it was seen firmly gripping adjacent fruit pieces to not lose balance. It rested on the heap of chikoo placed on the fruit cart, which along contained a melon. It chose to feast on the chikoo instead of taking a bite of the other fruit placed there.
When people spotted the bat biting a chikoo, swallowing its pulp, and also leaving some residue all around, they simply recorded the incident on camera instead of shooing the bat away.
