Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A person from Barwani purchased a second hand gas tanker and parked it in a farm house of his friend’s brother- in-law in November 2024 thinking that the tanker would be safe there. But to his dismay the tanker got stolen from there in December.

Seven people were arrested by police for stealing the vehicle in Hatod police station area, police said on Thursday. The police seized the car used in the crime and pieces of the tanker which were cut for scrap sale. What is more shocking is that the son of the farm house owner is one of those arrested for the theft.

According to the police, one Chandra Shekhar Kushwah, a resident of Barwani, lodged a complaint with Hatod police stating that he had bought a second hand gas tanker from a person in Bhopal to get it attached to a gas company. Therefore, he parked it at a farm house of his friend’s brother-in-law in November 2024. On the night of December 16, it went missing from its place.

The police examined hundreds of CCTVs footage and on the basis of technical assistance, the police came to know that Ayush Yadav, the son of the farm house’s owner, where the gas tanker was parked was involved in the theft and stole the vehicle with the help of his neighbor Raghuveer Chauhan, Kamal Singh, Jitendra and Sameer. Later, they sold it to Tahir in Dewas who further sold it to scrapper Shakil, who cut the vehicle into scrap.
