Bank Holiday May: Banks will be closed for so many days, check the full list before necessary work

News India Live, Digital Desk: New Delhi: The month of May is about to begin, and if you want to settle any urgent work in the bank next month, it is very important to take a look at the holiday list before going to the branch. Lest you reach the bank and get a lock there!

According to the list of holidays issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for several days in different states in May. These holidays include festivals, jaters as well as the second and fourth Saturdays and Sunday holidays. Overall, banks may remain closed for 13 days in some states (by weekly holidays).

  • 1 May (Wednesday): Labor Day / Maharashtra Day On this day, along with Maharashtra (due to Maharashtra Day), banks will remain closed on the occasion of Labor Day in many states like Bihar, Goa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Kerala, Gujarat, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir etc.

  • May 5 (Sunday): Weekly holiday (bank closed across the country)

  • May 8 (Wednesday): Guru Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti – Banks will remain closed in states like West Bengal and Tripura.

  • May 10 (Friday): Basav Jayanti / Akshaya Tritiya – Some states like Karnataka may have a holiday on this occasion. (Please check your state list)

  • May 11 (Saturday): Second Saturday – Banks will remain closed across the country.

  • May 12 (Sunday): Weekly holiday (bank closed across the country)

  • May 16 (Thursday): Sikkim State Day – Banks will remain closed only in the state of Sikkim.

  • May 19 (Sunday): Weekly holiday (bank closed across the country)

  • May 23 (Thursday): Buddha Purnima -Banks will have a holiday in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Tripura, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh.

  • May 25 (Saturday): Fourth Saturday – Banks will remain closed across the country.

  • 26 May (Sunday): Weekly holiday (bank closed across the country)

  • Kazi Nazrul Islam Jayanti on 26 May There is also, due to which there will be a holiday in Tripura (due to Sunday, it will remain closed anyway).

  • May 29 (Wednesday): Maharana Pratap Jayanti – Banks will remain closed in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana.

  • May 30 (Thursday): Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji Martyrdom Day – In some states like Punjab, banks will have a holiday on this day.
