Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Kolkata Police have made several arrests while conducting a special operation against Bangladeshi nationals living in India illegally. These citizens were living in India with the help of fake documents.

16 Bangladeshi citizens arrested in Maharashtra

Maharashtra ATS conducted a special operation in Navi Mumbai, Thane, and Solapur and arrested a total of 16 Bangladeshi nationals, including six women.
An ATS officer said:
“Seven men and six women were arrested in the last 24 hours. Cases have been registered against all of them under the Foreigners Act and other relevant laws.”

Entry into India by making fake documents

Investigation has revealed that these citizens had prepared fake Aadhaar cards and other Indian documents.

  • Arrests in Jalna district:
    • ATS and police arrested three Bangladeshi nationals from Anwa and Kumbhari villages of Bhokardan taluka.
    • These people were working on crusher machines and were living illegally in India for the last two years.
    • The accused had made arrangements for work and stay in India by making fake identity cards.

Cases have been registered against these citizens under sections of the Indian Justice Code and Foreigners Act.

Bangladeshi citizens living illegally in Kolkata caught

Kolkata Police arrested a Bangladeshi national who was living with fake identity cards in the Park Street area of ​​the metropolis.

  • The accused had prepared fake Aadhaar cards and PAN cards on which the address of North 24 Parganas was written.
  • The accused was living on rent in Khidarpur area since 2023.

Another arrest near Park Street

Another Bangladeshi national was arrested in Marquis Street area near Park Street. He had been living in the city for many years with fake documents.

According to the police, investigation is going on to identify the gang that prepared fake documents in these cases.

Campaign going on across the country

Earlier, Assam Police had also arrested eight militants of a banned Islamic organization in a major operation. This shows that the administration is keeping a close watch on people coming to India through illegal entry and fake documents.
