Bangladesh’s U19 cricket team were jubilant in their celebrations after beating India in the Asia Cup final on Sunday in Dubai. In a video shared by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on social media, the players and support staff were seen dancing in the dressing room as they emerged victorious in a low-scoring contest.

Bangladesh, who were the defending champions and beat UAE to win the previous edition, struggled after India put them into bat. Yudhajit Guha, Chetan Sharma and Hardik Raj picked up two wickets each, while Kiran Chormalie, KP Karthikeya and Ayush Mhatre snared one apiece to bowl Bangladesh out for 198.

As far as Bangladesh’s batting unit goes, their captain Azizul Hakim was one of those to fall for a middling socre. Rizan Hossain top-scored with 47, while Mohammad Shihab James (40) and Farid Hasan (39) chipped in with critical contributions in an innings that lasted 49.1 overs.

Nevertheless, Bangladesh’s bowlers were equally relentless, with India’s destructive opening pair of Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi getting dismissed within five overs. The likes of C Andre Siddarth (20), KP Karthikeya (21) and skipper Mohammed Amaan (26) chipped in with runs but it was hardly enough even for a target as modest as that of 199.

Hakim and Iqbal Hossain Emon starred with three wickets each, while Al Fahad picked up a couple. Maruf Mridha and Hossain also took one each for good measure to consign India to a 59-run loss.
