Bangladesh owes about 900 million dollars, or about Rs 7,500 crore on the company Adani Power, the company of leading industrialist Gautam Adani. A senior company official gave this information on Monday. Adani Power Jharkhand Limited (APJL), a subsidiary of Adani Power, supplies electricity to the neighboring country Bangladesh.
During the discussion on the quarterly results, Dilip Jha, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Adani Power said, “So far we have sent about $ 200 million bills in total. We have already received $ 120 million. We have also sent $ 136 million LPS (late payment surcharge) of $ 136 million.”
Electricity to Bangladesh is supplied from APJL’s 1600 MW Ultra-Supreme Critical Thermal Power Plant at Godda, Jharkhand. Dilip Jha said that the company’s total outstanding loan on Bangladesh, including LPS, is around US $ 900 million.
Regarding the company’s capital expenditure scheme, Dilip Jha said that the company has planned ₹ 13,307 crore for FY 2025-26, which is more than ₹ 8000 crore spent in FY 2024-25.
Adani Power CEO S. B. Khyalia said that the company is supplying full electricity to Bangladesh and has never had any problem due to which the supply has been stopped. He said, “The outstanding amount in the last quarter has decreased by about Rs 500 crore. Therefore, now the payment to the company is more than the monthly billing.” He said in response to the question whether Adani Power has stopped power supply to Bangladesh due to dues.
