Bhopal Bank Loot Bid: BAMS Student Used Stolen Bike For Heist; Bought Air Pistol, Chilli Powder Online | FP Photo
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The BAMS student Sanjay Kumar used a stolen bike to reach Dhanlaxmi bank where he attempted loot after spraying chilli powder on the staff. Moreover, the youth had stolen the mobile phones of his fellow students earlier.
The accused has been taken into police remand and is being questioned further, police officials said. In-charge at Piplani police station Anurag Lal said the youth Sanjay Kumar (24), hails from Ujjain. Sanjay is pursuing BAMS from a private college in Bhopal and lives on rent at Santoshi Vihar Colony in Ayodhya Nagar area.
Sanjay’s father is a peon at mandi office in Ujjain. The youth wearing helmet and mask approached staff at Dhanlaxmi Bank in Piplani area on Friday and presented a rent agreement for opening a bank account. He went back when told that the document cannot be used for opening a bank account.
He returned to the bank around 4 pm and sprayed chilli powder on the bank staff sitting next to the main entrance. The youth then moved towards the cash counter while spraying chilli powder on the other staffers. However, the youth panicked when the bank employees stood up from their seats to nab him. He went out of the bank and fled on his bike.
Bought air pistol, chilli powder online
Police team searched his room and found an air pistol and some registration number plates of some other vehicles. Police questioning revealed that Sanjay had stolen a bike which he used for reaching the Dhanlaxmi Bank. He ordered the air pistol and the chilli powder online. Sanjay confessed to have stolen mobile phones and cash of his fellow students earlier.
No gunman at the bank!
Sanjay chose Dhanlaxmi bank as no guard or gunman was deployed there for security. Moreover, police found some application forms for opening bank accounts with Sanjay revealing that he had carried out reconnaissance at multiple banks before choosing Dhanlaxmi Bank for loot.
