Expressing displeasure over the incidents of violence, LOP and West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said that this is not an election, it is a decree of death. He said that the entire state has come under the grip of violence.

Central forces are not deployed here. CCTVs are not working. This vote is not loot. This is the collusion of TMC goons and police and that is why so many murders are happening.

 

According to the Election Commission, TMC has the maximum number of 61,591 candidates for 63,229 gram panchayat seats in 22 districts. While 38,475 candidates of BJP are in the fray. In view of the incidents of violence, adequate security arrangements have been made.

The process of violence continues in the Panchayat elections. The daughter of an independent candidate has been shot dead in Hooghly. Allegedly TMC workers shot the candidate’s daughter in the forehead. After the incident, the seriously injured girl has been taken to a medical college in Kolkata, where she is undergoing treatment.
