Thousands of Bajrang Dal members gathered at Shivaji Park, Dadar, on Sunday for ‘Shourya Sanchalan’ rally to mark the 32nd anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid at Ayodhya.
The rally in the city, held by the Konkan chapter of the Bajrang Dal, was one of the four held in the last two weeks. On December 8, similar rallies were held in Goa, Raigad, and Sindhudurg.
The Mumbai rally was held at Raja Bade Chowk Shivaji Park Dadar west. Swami Vigyananand, Joint General Secretary, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and the founder of World Hindu Economic Forum and World Hindu Congress addressed the gathering. The Bajrang Dal said that the Babri Masjid, a symbol of the humiliation faced by Hindus, was destroyed on December 6, 1992. After decades of struggle, Hindutva has achieved centrestage in the country’s culture and politics, the organisation said in a press statement. December 5, the day before the demolition was also Gita Jayanti, the day Hindus believe the sacred Bhagavad Gita was spoken by Lord Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. On Gita Jayanti, Hindus had demolished a symbol of slavery, the statement added. This year, Gita Jayanti was observed on December 11.
Gautam Ravaria, co-convenor of the Konkan chapter of Bajrang Dal, said that between 8,000 to 10,000 people attended the rally. “Now that there is a grand Lord Ram temple at the site, it is the duty of young people to ensure that it is always protected,” said Ravaria.

Speakers at the rally also raised concerns at the plight of Bangladesh’s Hindus after the change of government in that country. “The country is safe if your faith is safe. Hindus have been wiped out in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Now they are being driven out of Bangladesh,” said Ravaria.
Meanwhile, members of the Hindu Vahini gathered near Vile Parle station to protest against the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh.
