Baghpat, 07 July (Hindustan Times). In the verification being done on the order of the government in the district, the case of widow pension money going into the account of 248 deceased has come to the fore. On the other hand, during the verification, 104 widows have been found ineligible, whose pension will be stopped and action will be taken according to the rules. The Social Welfare Department has now speeded up the process of recovery from the ineligible and the dead by removing the loopholes found in the widow pension case.

District Probation Officer Tulika Sharma said that on the orders of the government, verification of old age and widow pension is being done in district Baghpat. In the verification, the case of widow pension money going into the account of 248 deceased came to the fore. Now preparations have been made to get this money back.

He told that under widow pension, the eligible person gets pension at the rate of one thousand rupees every month. 14 thousand widows are getting pension in Baghpat. Verification of pension holders is being done on the orders of the government. So far 7822 widow pensions have been verified in Baghpat. Of these, 248 widows have been found dead, while their pension money is going into their accounts. And 104 widows were found ineligible, whose pension will be stopped. Among them there are many widows who have remarried but are taking benefits of widow pension. Some widows have left the village and gone somewhere else due to which their pension will be stopped.

District Probation Officer Tulika Sharma said that all the verification work is being done by Panchayat Secretary, which will be completed soon. Beneficiaries found ineligible and deceased will be re-checked so that there is no scope for wrongful closure of pension. The pension amount will be recovered from the ineligible.
