Varanasi: Yoga guru Baba Shivananda, who inspired the whole country with his yoga education, breathed his last. He died at the age of 128. Yoga Guru Baba Shivanand was awarded the Padma Shri Award. Yoga guru Baba Shivanand died in Varanasi at 9:45 pm on Saturday night. He was admitted to BHU for the last three days. He died on Saturday.
Baba Shivanand dedicated his entire life to yoga practice. Yoga guru Baba Shivananda inspired the youth of the country with his simple lifestyle and high thought. Similarly, Baba Shivanand also followed celibacy throughout his life. Baba Shivanand lived for 128 years due to his lifestyle. He was awarded the Padma Shri Award for his yoga practice. He was awarded the Padma Shri Award on 21 March 2022. He was the eldest person to receive the Padma Shri.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also paid tribute to Yoga Guru Baba Shivanand. Prime Minister Modi has expressed his feelings by posting on social media. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written that he has deeply saddened by the death of Yoga Sadhak and Kashi resident Shivanand Babaji. His life dedicated to yoga and meditation will continue to inspire every generation of the country. He was also awarded the Padma Shri Award for his social service through Yoga. Shivanand Baba’s Shivlok Gaman is an irreparable loss for all of us Kashiwasi and millions of people who inspire him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “I pay my tribute to him in this hour of sorrow.”
Who was Baba Shivanand?
Yoga guru Baba Shivanand lived in Kabir Nagar of Durgakund area of Bhelupur in Varanasi. His ashram is here. Shivananda was a devotee of Lord Shiva. He was born on 8 August 1896 in the family of Sadhu Goswami, a Brahmin in Srihatti, West Bengal. This place is currently in Bangladesh. His parents used to live by begging. At the age of four, Shivanand Baba’s parents handed him over to Baba Omkaranand Goswami, a resident of Navdwip for his welfare.
The last rites will be performed at Harishchandra Ghat.
When he was 6 years old, his parents and sister died of hunger, after which he taught spirituality under the guidance of his Guru and inspired him and followed Brahmacharya throughout his life. Baba Shivanand practiced yoga throughout his life. Wherever they live anywhere, they never forget to come to Varanasi to exercise their rights on election day. Earlier this year, he visited Prayagraj Mahakumbh and took a dip in the holy confluence of the rivers. His last rites will be performed at Harishchandra Ghat in Varanasi.
