Ayushman Card: The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) being run by the Government of India is proving to be a boon for the families of crores of poor and weak income groups of the country. Under this scheme, free health insurance cover of up to Rs 5 lakh is provided to eligible families per year. To avail this scheme, it is mandatory to make Ayushman card. Let’s know how you can make this card and what is its eligibility.

What is Ayushman Bharat Yojana?
The objective of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme is to provide quality health services to the economically weaker families so that they do not have to suppress the debt burden to treat serious diseases. Cashless treatment facilities are available in government and private hospitals listed under this scheme.

Who are the characters?
The eligibility of the scheme is mainly based on the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 2011 data. This includes deprived categories for rural areas (such as families without roof, destitute, tribal groups etc.) and commercial categories for urban areas (such as garbage pickers, beggars, domestic workers etc.). You can check your eligibility online or close to the nearest Common Service Center (CSC).

Ayushman Card: How to make Ayushman Card?

  1. Online method:

    • First of all visit the official website of Ayushman Bharat Scheme (PMJAY.GOV.IN).

    • Click on ‘AM I Eligible’ or ‘What I am eligible’ option.

    • Generate OTP by entering your mobile number and captcha code.

    • After entering OTP, choose your state and then find your eligibility from name, ration card number, HHD number or mobile number.

    • If your name is in the list, you can download your Ayushman card by completing the E-KYC process. This will require Aadhaar card and registered mobile number.

  2. Offline method (Common Service Center – CSC):

    • You can go to your nearest Jan Seva Kendra (CSC) or any hospital associated with the scheme.

    • Arogya friends present there will help you. You have to show Aadhaar card, ration card or any other identity card recognized by the government for your identity.

    • Arogya Mitra will check your eligibility and if you are found eligible, you will complete your E-KYC process and generate your Ayushman card.

    • In some cases a minor fee may be charged.
