Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), New Delhi, working under Ayush Ministry, has increased visitation and digitisation fee by  three to five times with 18% GST. NCISM every year carries out inspections for reorganisation of Ayush colleges in the country.

Last year, the fee was Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs 2 lakh for visitation and digitization fees. For the session 2025-26, the amount has been increased to Rs 7.08 lakh including 18% GST for 60 seat UG BAMS running academic courses in Ayush colleges. Similarly, Rs 11.12 lakh for 100 seats, Rs 15.34 lakh for 150 seats and Rs 19.47 lakh including 18% GST for 200 seats has been fixed by NCISM for Ayurved College.

The overall fee for 60-200 seats of UG-PG will be between Rs 8.80 lakh and Rs 21.24 lakh. The Ayurved colleges have been asked to deposit the amount by January 21. There are 532 Ayurved colleges in the country and of these 37 are in Madhya Pradesh.

Dr Rakesh Pandey, the national spokesman Ayush Medical Association, however took exception to the hike in fee and terming GST unjustified, said that Ayurved colleges were facing problems in recruiting qualified teachers so under such circumstances, it was not justified to increase visitation and digitization fees and impose GST.

“18% GST is not justified for educational institutes. It should be waived off. Like previous year, exemption of 20% should be given to educational institutes,” said Pandey.
