Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia’s husband and the son of Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi, Farhan Azmi, has reportedly been booked by the Goa Police after he got into a brawl near Candolim beach on Monday night. Not just that, but he also reportedly took out his gun in public and issued threats.

According to a report in Goa News Hub, the police control room received a call around 11:15 pm on March 3, Monday, informing them about a fight happening near Candolim beach. Reportedly, a scuffle broke out between Farhan’s group and another group, during which Farhan brandished his licensed gun at the rival group and threatened them.

Cops said that the fight had taken place over a “petty matter”. When both the parties were taken to the police station, they refused to file complaints against each other. They were also sent for medical examination as per protocol, but Farhan and the others refused to get medically tested as well.

The Calangute Police then filed a case against Farhan for fighting in public, disturbing peace and creating ruckus at Candolim Beach, which is a favourite among tourists in the coastal state. Three other locals were also booked in the case along with Farhan and others.

The cops said that Farhan provided a valid arms license and a permit to carry his gun around in Goa when he was questioned by the police.

Farhan is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

This is not the first time that Farhan has found himself in trouble in Goa. Back in 2022, he had claimed that he faced racism at Goa airport and also accused a male officer of trying to touch Ayesha inappropriately.

“This racist **##** made a dirty sexual comment while he was checking my pockets which had only a ₹500 not (sic),” he had claimed. He had also threatened to take legal action against the airport authorities.

Ayesha and Farhan got married in 2009, and the two welcomed a son named Mikhail in 2013. While the actress seems to have quit showbiz for good, she often makes headlines for her photos and posts on social media.

Abu Azmi faces backlash over Aurangzeb remark

It is to be noted that Farhan’s father, SP MLA Abu Azmi was recently at the receiving end of severe backlash after he allegedly praised Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. “Our GDP accounted for 24 per cent (of the world GDP) and India was called a golden sparrow (during his regime),” he had said, and his comments sparked a massive outrage in the state, which Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) filing multiple police complaints against him and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde demanding that Azmi be slapped with sedition charges.

On Tuesday (March 4), Azmi issued an apology, stating that only mentioned what historians and writers had recorded. “I would never imagine insulting a figure like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, DR Bhimrao Ambedkar. We all respect them. I would never speak ill about these legendary kings. If anyone is hurt by my statement, which was twisted, I take my statement back,” Azmi said.
