Panvel: The Panvel Municipal Corporation has issued a strict advisory urging citizens not to stand under or near large hoardings and advertising boards during the ongoing monsoon season, as strong winds and heavy rains increase the risk of these structures collapsing.
Administration has warned that unexpected pre-monsoon storms and gusty winds could cause hoardings of various sizes and heights across the city to fall, posing a serious threat to public safety.
In response, the corporation has instructed all advertisers to conduct thorough inspections of their hoardings during the pre-monsoon period. ” Advertisers are instructed to ensure foundations are secure, iron frames are free from rust, and apply anti-rust paint where needed. Any hoardings found to be unsafe are to be removed immediately to prevent accidents,” said an official.
Corporation has also appealed to citizens to avoid parking vehicles or setting up stalls, handcarts, or temporary sheds near hoardings. Immediate removal of such business setups near hoardings is urged to prevent any potential loss of life or property.
Residents are advised to remain cautious and heed these warnings throughout the monsoon season to stay safe.
