The temperature increases dramatically during summer, so the body requires more coolness and comfort. It is important to pay special attention to food in this season, because eating incorrect and hot tasted foods can increase body heat and can cause various health problems. However, many homes still use regular hot spices, which are useful on cold days. However, these spices can also be harmful to the body in summer.

Hard spices like cloves, black pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg and asafoetida are hot. Excessive intake of them can cause many problems like digestive problems, acidity, dehydration, headache, vomiting and skin allergies. For example, although clove is a immune enhancing substance, consuming it in summer can cause headaches and digestive problems. Eating black pepper can increase body heat, which can cause skin rashes, dehydration and stomach irritation. Although cinnamon is an antioxidant, its excessive intake can invite problems like nausea and vomiting. The warm nature of nutmeg may cause fatigue or dizziness.

Although asafoetida is beneficial for digestion, excessive intake of it in summer can cause gas, diarrhea and stomach pain. Therefore, it is more beneficial to limit the intake of warm spices in summer and include cool spices. For example, fennel, green cardamom and coriander powder are cold and they provide coolness to the body. In addition, the body gets the necessary coolness by including lemon, mint, curd and cucumber in the diet. It is necessary for health to avoid more spicy food in this season and control the amount of spices.

We often use spices more to enhance taste, but this can deteriorate the balance of the body. Therefore, health needs to be preferred rather than taste. Light, cold and digestible food in summer is the best option. By using the right diet and limited spices, we can protect ourselves from summer troubles.
