Sydney: Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese appeared to have stumbled on stage on Thursday during a campaign event for the upcoming federal elections in Sydney. The incident was recorded on camera and the video is doing rounds on social media.

In the video, it could be seen that after delivering a speech at the Mining and Energy Union conference in the Hunter, the Australian PM fell off the stage. The video shows Albanese was posing for photos after his speech when he lost his footing as he stepped back. Other people present on the stage saved him.

When asked about the incident on ABC Newcastle radio, Albanese said that he did not fall, it was his leg that went down. “But I was sweet,” he added.

The Australian PM is currently on the campaign trail for the election that will be held on May 3 this year. As per opinion polls, there will be a close contest between the ruling Labor Party and the conservative Liberal-National opposition. The Liberal-National is led by Peter Dutton.

The Australian federal elections will be held on Saturday 3 May 2025 to elect members of the 48th Parliament of Australia. Albanese is seeking re-election to a second term for the Labor government.
