Canbra : Voting for the federal election in Australia is starting today. In this election, the current Prime Minister Anthony Albanies had a contest between Labor Party and opposition leader Peter Datton’s Liberal-National Alliance. Meanwhile, the results of this election have come out. In this election, the Labor Party led by Anthony Albanies won a stunning victory. Albanis has been elected Prime Minister for the second time. He became the first person to win the second consecutive time in the last thirty years.

According to Australian Election Commission data, the Labor Party has won 70 seats in the 150 -member House of Representatives. The Conservative Party led by Peter Datton got only 24 seats.

 

Meanwhile, opposition Liberal Party leader Peter Datton has accepted the defeat after the result was declared on Saturday (May 3). He accepted the award and congratulated Albanies on his victory. He said, “I take full responsibility that we could not do well in this election campaign.”

Elections were fought on these issues.

The Labor Party raised issues like inflation, energy policy and rising cost of life during its election campaign. The opposition accused the government of increase in inflation and interest rates. Labor Party leader Peter Datton campaigned on public sector cuts and nuclear power issues. Prime Minister Albanies compared the policies of Peter Datton to Trump.

Right to vote in Australia

Voting is mandatory for all citizens aged 18 or above in Australia. If a person votes for any unnecessary reason, he will have to pay a fine of 20 Australian dollars. In addition, Australia has no age limit for the post of Prime Minister. Any person aged 18 or above can become the Prime Minister of the country.

Anthony Albanies is the 31st Prime Minister of Australia. In 2022, he formed the government by defeating Scott Morrison in the election. He has obtained a degree in economics from the University of Sydney. His political life began with the politics of Sydney University. In 1960, he was elected MP from Sydney West Constituency. Meanwhile, he once again returned to the post of Prime Minister.
