Thane: The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has announced a 24-hour water cut across several areas of the city from 12 PM on Thursday, May 22, to 12 PM on Friday, May 23, due to essential maintenance work at the Jambhul Water Treatment Plant operated by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).

The water cut will impact Kalwa, Mumbra, Diva, and surrounding localities including Rupadevi Pada, Kisan Nagar No. 2, Nehru Nagar in the Wagle Estate ward, and Kolshet Khalcha village in the Manpada ward. According to TMC officials, this planned shutdown is necessary for critical repair and maintenance operations at the Jambhul plant, which is a major source of water supply for Thane and nearby areas.

Residents are urged to store sufficient water in advance and use it judiciously during the period of interruption. The TMC has also warned that low-pressure water supply may continue for some time even after services are restored on Friday afternoon.

An official post made by TMC on X (formerly Twitter) stated that while the maintenance may cause temporary inconvenience, it is essential to ensure long-term efficiency and uninterrupted supply in the future. The civic body has assured that efforts will be made to restore water supply at the earliest following the completion of repair work.

This is a city-wide appeal to all affected residents to plan accordingly and support the maintenance work by cooperating with local authorities. For updates, residents can contact their local ward offices or check official TMC social media handles. For now, preparedness and patience are key as Thane gears up for a brief but necessary disruption in water supply.
