In 2024, over 4 crore Punekars took Metro lines 1 and 2. While both lines are proving to be a hit in Pune, residents are demanding more and more metro lines. While the IT hub in Kalyani Nagar is connected by Line 2, people are now waiting for Hinjawadi to get a Metro.

The Metro will resolve the traffic issue in Hinjawadi once this line starts. Earlier, it was said that the line would start by summer. However, recently, an officer with the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) said that it will be launched by September 2025.

The work on the metro line is going on in full swing, though it was delayed due to restrictions imposed during the election period and breaks for VIP movement.

Recently, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Siddharth Shirole also said that the Puneri Metro will be operational by Diwali this year.

This 23.3 km-long Line 3 will not only enhance daily commutes but also boost development and ease traffic congestion across the city.
