Attention Punekars! PMC To Start Issuing Property Tax Bills From May 1 Due To Pending PT-3 Applications | Anand Chaini

The Pune Municipal Corporation has announced that the distribution of property tax bills for the financial year 2025-26 will commence from May 1. This decision comes after the PT-3 applications, which are required to provide a 40 percent discount to residential properties, are still under review.

Pratibha Patil, Deputy Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation’s Property Tax Department, stated that the delay is due to the pending scrutiny of these applications. “Since the PT-3 applications are yet to be processed, it is impossible to distribute the bills from April 1 as planned,” she said.

The property tax bills will now be issued starting May 1, with citizens having until June 30 to make payments. They can avail themselves of a five to ten percent discount during this period.

The Municipal Corporation has received around 1.5 to 2.5 lakh PT-3 applications from citizens, filled across various regional offices. These applications are currently under review by the Income Tax Department, which has been short-staffed and engaged in other income-generation activities over the past two months.

“Issuing bills based on outdated information could lead to inconvenience for citizens, requiring them to visit the Municipal Corporation for corrections. Therefore, the department has decided to process the applications first, update the records, and then distribute the bills,” Patil explained.

She added that the Municipal Commissioner’s approval has been obtained for this revised schedule, and the entire process is expected to be completed within a month.
