Attention! MSEDCL Urges Residents To Keep Electricity Systems Clean To Prevent Fires And Power Failures | Representative Image
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has appealed to residents to keep the electricity systems around their houses and public places clean. They have urged that garbage should not be thrown around transformers, as it could catch fire during the summer season. Additionally, residents should refrain from burning garbage near electricity systems.
It has been observed that residents throw garbage near electricity wires, feeder pillars, transformers, distribution boxes, DPs, and other electrical equipment. If this garbage catches fire, it could pose a severe danger to the residents. Furthermore, it could lead to power failures due to damage to underground cables and electricity systems.
Residents often burn garbage, which may damage the electricity system. The overhead wires are also at risk of being burned due to garbage fires.
MSEDCL has implemented safety measures, such as placing security grills around transformers. However, residents continue to throw waste food and other garbage inside these grills and security compounds. This attracts rats, cats, birds, and other insects, which may chew on wires, increasing the risk of short circuits.
In the event of a fire incident, residents are advised to immediately inform MSEDCL through their 24-hour toll-free numbers: 1912, 1800-212-34365, or 1800-233-3435.
