  • Balance check (Non-Financial Transaction): Similarly, after the free limit, the charge of checking the balance from the ATM of another bank or also to extract a mini statement 7 rupees More than 9 rupees There will be transactions per transaction.

What is free limit? (Free ATM Transaction Limit)

Remember that banks provide some free transactions to their customers every month in other banks’ ATMs:

  • In metro cities (eg Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad): 3 free transactions (Financial + Non-Financial)

  • In other cities (non-metro): 5 free transactions (Financial + Non-Financial)

Only after the end of this limit, the increased charge mentioned above will be applicable.

What to do customers? (Advice for Customers)

To avoid this increase:

  1. Use your bank ATM: Try that most of you use your own bank ATM, because usually more free transactions are available in your bank’s ATM.

  2. Adopt digital payment: Use digital methods like UPI, Net Banking, Mobile Banking. This will reduce the need to withdraw cash again and again and you can avoid additional charge.

Another instruction of RBI: 100 and 200 notes will increase

Along with increasing the ATM charge, RBI has given another important instruction to banks and white-labeled ATM operators (who do not have banks themselves). The RBI wants the availability of Rs 100 and 200 rupee notes to be increased in the ATM.

  • Till 30 September 2025: In 75% ATM, at least one cassette (note holding box) will have to keep 100 or 200 notes.

  • By 31 March 2026: This number will have to be increased to 90% ATM.

This step will greatly benefit those people who often require small notes instead of 500 rupees. They will be able to get 100 or 200 rupee notes easily from ATMs.

So, next time you use ATM, keep these changes in mind so that you do not have to pay more money.
