Panaji: At least seven people were killed after stampede during Lairai Devi pilgrimage in Goa’s Shirgaon on Saturday morning. According to reports, 30 people also sustained injuries.

After receiving the information, authorities rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured were admitted to the Goa Medical College (GMC) and the North Goa District Hospital in Mapusa, reported India Today.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant took stock of the situation. He also visited the North Goa District Hospital and Bicholim Hospital after the tragic incident.
