At least four people died and over 20 were injured after a speeding truck ploughed through vegetable vendors in Telangana’s Hyderabad on Monday.

The accident took place on the Hyderabad-Bijapur road when a cement-laden lorry lost control and ploughed through a group of vegetable vendors. 

As per reports, around 50 people were present at the roadside market when the incident occurred. 

Many vendors tried to flee as the speeding lorry approached, but the vehicle rammed into the crowd before coming to a halt after crashing into a tree. The force of the impact left several victims trapped under the vehicle, and the driver was also stuck inside the lorry’s cabin.

The lorry, identified by registration number AP 29 TB 0945, ran over the vendors’ produce before hitting the traders and buyers gathered at the market. 

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. Many of the victims suffered severe injuries, including broken limbs, raising concerns that the death toll could rise.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, with preliminary reports suggesting that the lorry may have been overspeeding or experienced a brake failure. 

Efforts are underway to identify the deceased and provide support to the injured and their families.
