Chief Minister announced
Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma announced a cut in electricity rates in the state on Tuesday.

The electricity rate for all domestic consumers has been cut by Rs 1 per unit.

This deduction will be applicable to domestic customers of all categories including ‘Jeevan Dhara’ and ‘High Tension’.
The Chief Minister also clarified that further reduction in electricity rates would be announced by the end of the year.

Relief in April, not a joke
The Chief Minister wrote on the social media platform ‘X’: “April has come, the temperature will rise but your electricity bill will be low.” He also clarified that, “This is no joke in the name of April Fool.”
This deduction in electricity rates was part of the state’s annual budget, which has recently been passed in the Legislative Assembly. The Chief Minister has earlier indicated that electricity rates can be reduced further by the end of the year.
