The Supreme Court on Tuesday heard the deportation case of 270 foreign nationals detained in transit camps in Assam.
Meanwhile, the court sought answers from the central government regarding compliance with previous instructions. The court has given a deadline till March 21. On the other hand, the Central Government said that the matter is going on on the matter and more time is needed. A bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan postponed the hearing on the appeal of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta today. Earlier, the bench said that the Solicitor General says that the issue of exile of foreigners is being resolved at the highest level. Mehta demanded more time to respond to the Center on the entire matter. The Supreme Court has also criticized the Assam government for detaining foreigners indefinitely instead of deporting foreigners. The court questioned whether the government was waiting for the appropriate time to send them back. The Assam government is hiding the facts. Those detained should be immediately deported when it is confirmed that they are foreigners.
