Former journalist and ex-chairman of the Indian Premier League and the current Vice President of the BCCI, Rajeev Shukla’s photo with Coldplay’s lead vocalist Chris Martin went viral a few days ago, where the duo attended cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s event in Mumbai. However, days after the viral photo, Rajeev revealed that he was not aware of who Chris was.
Appearing on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Rajeev said in Hindi, “Main Chris Martin ko mila nahi tha, toh jaanta bhi nahi tha. Mujhe yeh laga ki woh koi band hai, Chris Martin mujhe pata nahi tha. Sachin Tendulkar ne apne foundation ka ek programme rakha tha, usmein main gaya tha. Main soch bhi nahi sakta tha ki yeh sab aayenge. Wahan mujhe parchay karwaya gaya tha.”
He added, “Unke father baithe the, aur maine pucha, ‘I haven’t met you, what is your introduction?’ Toh unhone kaha, ‘I am Chris Martin’s father.’ Maine pucha, ‘Where is Chris Martin?’ Unke father ne jawab diya, ‘He is sitting next to me, he is my son.’ Toh main usse mila.”

Further, Rajeev also shared his experience of attending Coldplay’s concert, saying, “It was very good. I didn’t follow the music, so I couldn’t understand the songs. I’m not lying. But the rhythm and the lighting were very impressive. The vibes were very strong—positive vibes, strong. And he was a very nice person.”
Coldplay recently wrapped up the final leg of his India Tour 2025 on January 26 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, was also the largest-ever ticketing concert that India has hosted.
The band previously performed three shows in Mumbai on January 19 and 21, before completing two shows in Ahmedabad.
During his India tour, Chris was accompanied by his girlfriend, actress Dakota Johnson. After wrapping up the tour, the couple took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during the Maha Kumbh 2025.
