India beat Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025 was a one-sided contest, with Rohit Sharma’s team dominating in all aspects to win by six wickets. However, fans might get to see up to three more India vs Pakistan clashes later this year in the Asia Cup.
According to Cricbuzz report, the Asia Cup 2025, which will be played in T20 format, is set to take place between the second and fourth week of September. The tournament will feature 19 matches.
Though India was originally allotted hosting rights, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to hold it in a neutral venue due to political tensions between India and Pakistan. Possible locations include Sri Lanka or the UAE, but the BCCI will remain the official host.
In the Champions Trophy 2025, Pakistan was the official host, but India refused to play there, leading to a dispute between the two boards. As a result, India’s matches were shifted to Dubai.
To avoid such conflicts, the ACC has now decided that whenever India or Pakistan is supposed to host the Asia Cup, it will be played at a neutral venue.
Teams for Asia Cup 2025
Eight teams India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong will participate in the Asia Cup. The tournament is usually split into two groups of four, with India and Pakistan always placed in the same group.
The top two teams from each group move to the Super Four stage, and the best two from there reach the final. This structure increases the chances of at least two India-Pakistan matches, with a third possible if both teams reach the final.
