Moradabad, 15 November (H.C.). Shahvez Ali, Secretary, District Taekwondo Sports Association Moradabad, said on Friday that Ashish Singh, a promising player from Moradabad, returned after winning the gold medal in the National School Games Taekwondo competition, received a strong welcome. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Sonakpur Sports Stadium and RSD Sports Academy organized a grand reception at RSD. Regional Sports Officer Nareshchandra Yadav, Director of RSD Group Dr. Vinod, Dr. G Kumar, Joint Secretary of UP Olympic Association Ajay Pathak honored Ashish Singh by wearing flower garlands, giving books and feeding sweets. Ashish Singh’s father Nain Singh was also present on the occasion.
Shahvez Ali further informed that the 68th National School Taekwondo competition was organized by the School Games Federation of India at Sports Stadium in Madhya Pradesh from 8 to 13 November, in which more than 3000 players from across the country participated. Ashish Singh of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh Taekwondo team was selected in 32 kg weight category in the under 14 boys category. While performing brilliantly from the district to the state level, Ashish Singh is the first player from Moradabad to have a dual win with a gold medal in the national taekwondo competition.
Coach Shahvez Ali said that Ashish Singh has also been selected in the 38th National Taekwondo competition to be organized by Taekwondo Federation of India which will be held from 27 November to 1 December at Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium in Panchkula.
